Did a little research - there are 149 species of dragonflies found in Connecticut. I wonder how many worldwide? Couldn’t find a picture to identify this one, but he seems closely related to Calico Pennant (Celithemis elisa), Halloween Pennant (Celithemis eponina) or Banded Pennant (Celithemis fasciata). Maybe I need a book…
Thank you, Tai! We were waiting to see an outdoor play in the park and he kept landing on the rope in front of us. I finally started digging for the camera and thought he’d probably fly away for good, but he kept coming back…
Thanks for stopping by, Anna!
Thank you, Ralph! Me, too… There is a pond nearby - next year perhaps I’ll investigate and see who else is living there.
Vesna, if I had known I would have stuck my finger out - perhaps he was waiting for me to do so! Come summer, for this dream!
And thank you, Tharlam! Your comment means much to me.
Hey, this is pretty colorful! Even colors are in good combination (I didn’t noticed that until now)!
Thank you, Vesna! :)
Never seen a dragonfly like that before. Lovely image. :)
Thank you, Di!
