Do you think of yourself as a curious person?

Posted on Aug 8th, 2009 by ingebrita : seeker ingebrita
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for August 08, 2009:

I think I'm insatiably curious about certain things, like who my ancestors were or why people act a certain way and make the choices they do.  I'm very curious about what others think and about where different spiritual paths lead.  I'm curious about the wonders found in nature.  But I'm not at all curious about how a car engine or a computer works, just very thankful that there are people who are curious enough about them to keep them in working order!

Oh man, know what you mean!  My husband is one of those people who have always been curious about things like car and boat engines and practical stuff like that.  Like you, have come to a profound appreciation that his curiousity blesses me…because then I'm free to have my own curiousities which might look outwardly different.  Love how you put this!

Yes…I agree Kathy…

Barb…while I figured myself as the Queen of curiosity…how silly of me…because your right…there are some things I am just not that curious about.

Good point.

I must readdress my royal title!

Kathy, what you said about your husband reminded me of a visit Tim & I made to the Emily Dickinson Museum.  You have to take guided tours of the two houses there and I was just hanging on every word our guide was saying about Emily and her life and her poems and her associations…  I was content that Tim was indulging me, he's such a good sport, but then I slowly became aware of the fact that he was off in his own little world of curiosities.  He was utterly fascinated with the unusual hardware in the houses, types of hinges on the doors, how the windows were opened and locked in different positions, the lamps…  There was a museum staff member at the rear of our group and she was getting frustrated because he was lingering so long after the group moved on, still examining and absorbing the details of all the hardware!  She kept trying to politely push him along, but he was oblivious to her predicament.  I had to wonder what she went home and told her family about this strange man visiting the museum that day!
Denim, seems to me the Queen of Curiosity is a title worth holding on to!  You're reigning over a particular queendom of curiosity after all, not the universe of every realm possible.  Better royal title than mine, the Laundry Queen…  :)
